International Travelers Week - Day 1

Namaste! (Hello). This was day one on our trip to the wonderful country of India. The students were amazed at the transformation of the school. Here you will see pictures of a Kuchipudi Indian dance performance, popular Indian spices, and a rupee! Tune in for more pictures tomorrow!

International Travelers Week - Day 2

Namaste! Today we had a morning yoga class which was very calming for the kids. I think we should begin everyday like this! Then we created jeweled necklaces and knives fit for a Maharaja. What a fun day!

International Travelers Week - Day 4

Namaste! Today we learned how to be Bollywood dancers! We also made drums, tea light candle holders and rangoli art from India. We learned about Indian celebrations and a typical day at school in India. Can't wait for the Parade and Bazaar Festival tomorrow!

"Recycle Crayons"

Have lots of crayon stubs that are too small to hold on to? Don't throw them out! You can use them to create big, chunky crayons – and your kids can help.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 25 minutes

What You Need
  • Broken crayons
  • An old muffin tin
  • A knife
  • Adult supervision

Here's How:

  1. Gather up all of your broken crayons, remove paper wrapper and cut them into small pieces. (An adult will need to complete this step.)
  2. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
  3. Fill the muffin tin with an inch-thick layer of crayon pieces.
  4. Bake 15-20 minutes, or until the wax is melted.
  5. Allow the tin to cool; then pop out the crayons, and they're ready for use.
Tips:
  1. If you don't have a muffin tin to devote to crayon making, you can line your regular muffin tin with foil cups.
  2. Candy and soap making molds can also be used to create fun, shaped crayons.
  3. Recycled crayons make a great no-cost gift or party favor.
